If you miss a dose and are taking more than 1 dose daily, do not take it if it is almost time for the next dose. Instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Ativan (lorazepam) is a sedative medication that is most generally used to treat anxiety. Other accepted uses include treating insomnia, symptoms of severe.

Ativan (lorazepam) is generally considered to be a safe medication with a low risk of adverse side effects. If side effects do occur, they are likely to happen at the beginning of treatment, and are typically reduced with continued treatment or lower dosages. If any side effect should persist, become bothersome, or if an allergic or paradoxical reaction should develop, contact your doctor.

Apo-Lorazepam (CA), Ativan, Novo-Lorazem (CA), Nu-Loraz (CA). Pharmacologic class: Benzodiazepine. Therapeutic class: Anxiolytic. Controlled substance.

Unknown. Thought to depress CNS at limbic system and disrupt neurotransmission in reticular activating system.

Hormonal contraceptives: increased lorazepam clearance.

• For I.V. use, dilute with equal volume of compatible diluent, such as normal saline solution or dextrose 5% in water. Keep resuscitation equipment and oxygen at hand. ☞ Give each 2 mg of I.V. dose slowly, over 2 to 5 minutes. Don't exceed rate of 2 mg/minute. • Don't give parenteral form to children younger than age 18.
